Offering

Offering

“Offering” represents a traditional ritual performed by many Mixteca communities at the beginning of each harvest. According to the tradition, members of the community offer the land animals and drinks to express their gratitude and ask for a favorable harvest. A “bracero” (brazier) is used to smoke the space. The entire ritual culminates as the older generation, as the guardians of the land, pass down the ancestor knowledge to the new generation to cultivate corn in these lands.
